Tanzania is a country boasting a number of world famous national parks. The biggest is the Serengeti which includes the Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Ndutu and Lake Manyara National Parks. It is rich in wildlife boasting over 1300 bird species and many animal species. It borders the Masai Mara at the Kenyan border which is the better known reserve because of its coverage by TV wildlife programmes.
The images presented here are a small sample of those taken during two photographic safaris to Tanzania in June 2003 and January 2005. In June, the Wildebeest are on the move North which is a major spectacle to experience. In January/February the Wildebeest are at rest in the south of the Serengeti giving birth to their young leading to different photographic opportunities. The predators are very active catching the young animals to feed their cubs.
